So Mr & Mrs Steiner arrived at the High Court yesterday to begin the procedure to divide up their matrimonial assets!
Ocado founder Tim Steiner cites unreasonable behaviour as the reason for the divorce whilst Mrs S says she is the victim and has been cut off from her children.
It really doesn’t matter who is to blame for the divorce when it comes to dividing up the assets unless in extreme circumstances.
What is sad is that Mrs Steiner is alienated from her children.
We unfortunately often see that sort of situation when reviewing our client’s papers
This can be because the husband has control of the finances and the wife has no or limited access to any funds, so the husband is able to provide for the children and keep them in the style they are accustomed to and they, therefore, stay with him.
If Mrs Steiner is impecunious then the law, as clarified in 2012, provides for this sort of situation.
A wife can ask the Court for an order that her costs are paid for out the matrimonial funds controlled by her husband.
Any ex-wife reading this blog, therefore, and having found themselves in this situation, where their lawyer did not use this law to fund the divorce costs, should contact us immediately so we can review their settlement.
You will have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Always remember that any enquiries that we make do not involve your ex-husband and are therefore confidential.
